Facilities

The Building

SFDAC has a custom build covered area of about 70,000 square feet and comprises of ground, first and second floors. The building is equipped with necessary resources to carry out the needs of textile engineering courses and other practical demonstrations. The building comprises of lecture rooms, conference room and industrial size textile spinning plant, polyester plant, textile physical laboratories, textile chemical laboratories, library, auditorium etc.

Synthetic Fibre Department

The department consists of Polyester Fibre Spinning plant & Fibre after Treatment/Stretching plant. Polyester Fibre Spinning plant consists of melt spinning equipment, which includes: Crystallizer, Dryer, Extruder, Quench Chamber and Take-up machine. The plant is semi-automatic configuration and can be used for different types of polyester fibres manufacturing. Fibre after Treatment/Stretching plant consists of yarn stretching and staple fibre processing equipment.

Textile Department

Machinery installed in textile department is industrial size, state-of-the-art and manufacturing of yarn from synthetic fibres, cotton and their blends is possible alongwith weaving of fabric on latest Shuttle-less loom.

Special features of Blow room are the unique blending system for blending natural and man-made fibre through Vertical weighing chute system. Open-end machine alongwith the Ring Frame is also available and the ring yarn produced is transformed in shape of cones on automatic Winder. Theses cones are fed to the Shuttle-less loom, which uses warp prepared by local mills.

Quality Control Department

The department comprises Physical and Chemical testing laboratories covering fibre, yarn and finished goods testing and Eco-textile laboratory. The establishment of ECO Textile Laboratory is the first of its kind in Pakistan at SFDAC. The labs are equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment to make it compatible with the most prestigious labs of Europe. No other lab in the Country besides Eco-Textile Laboratory at SFDAC has such a comprehensive range of testing facility under one roof. The labs are available for testing of not only Azo dyes but also covers wide range of Eco-testing enlisted in Oeko-tex standard 100, the prominent standard requisite to follow for the exporters.

Training

Short training courses are designed in disciplines of fibre line, spinning and weaving, textile wet processing and textile testing.

Computer Wireless Networking

The center has wireless high speed internet connection covering its total area and is available to students free of charge.

Library

SFDAC possesses an extensive collection of more than 8,000 books on various technical topics. All important textile titles are available including technical video teaching films. The library has a seating capacity for 100 students.

Auditorium

A new 250 seated air-conditioned auditorium was constructed having state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities for technical presentations and seminars. The Centre has facility of stand-by power generation covering all of its operations.
